## MATHEMATICS 514-M1, COMPLEX ALGEBRAIC GEOMETRY, FALL 2024

**Instructor:** Sheldon Katz

** Office and hours:** 301 Altgeld Hall, Wednesdays at 3pm, Fridays at 2pm,
or by
appointment.

**Phone/email:** 265-6258, katzs AT illinois.edu

**Time and location:**10:00-10:50 MWF. Official room: 139 Loomis Lab. Unofficial room: 141 Altgeld Hall. See below for daily location of classes

**Text:** Griffiths and Harris, Principles of Algebraic Geometry, Wiley

**Course Syllabus** is here

**Location of classes:** It is expected that most classes will be held in 141 Altgeld, unless issues arise related to the renovation of Altgeld Hall.
- Wednesday, August 28 until announced otherwise: 141 Altgeld

**Homework:**

**Daily plans.** This document contains an approximate daily schedule of what is happening in class. It will be continually updated to mirror what actually happens in class.

**Notes:**
- It was pointed out to me after class on Wednesday, November 6 that if you took the last formula which I wrote on the board relating the curvature to the Chern class and divided both
sides by 2 pi i, you would get a formula differing from the theorem in the text by a sign. The formula in the text is correct. In class, a sign was missed in computing the coboundary of the Cech 0-cochain
consisting of the connection 1-forms. Apologies for the error.
